Protect employees & your brand
Outsourcing employment verifications has cost you visibility—and employee trust.

Employees never see what’s happening, and when they find out, they blame you. MyEmployment restores transparency and control—so employees trust the process, and your brand stays protected.
- Safeguard trust — employees see every request and know you’re protecting them
- Real-time alerts — employees are notified instantly when their data is requested.
- Permission options — employees can approve, deny, or set global preferences.
- Stay compliant — full FCRA credentialing, auditing, and reporting handled for you.

General & Employer-Focused Questions
What is MyEmployment and what are the three main benefits for my business?
MyEmployment is the modern verification platform that solves your verification needs from both directions. Our three main benefits are:
1. Eliminate HR administrative burden: We handle all incoming verification calls and requests for your current and former employees, freeing up your HR team.
2. Lower your background check costs: You can direct your background check company or internal team to use our platform to get fast, on-demand $29 verifications with a no-hit-no-fee policy.
3. Build employee trust and transparency: Employees have control over the release of their employment information, giving them real-time visibility and protecting your reputation.
How is MyEmployment different from The Work Number?
The Work Number is one of the nation’s largest providers of employment and income verification, built to handle verification requests on a company’s behalf. MyEmployment takes a different and more modern approach.
MyEmployment uses a dual-path verification system that saves you money, protects your employees’ trust, and removes verification work from your HR team.
• Employer-Hosted Path: We handle all incoming verification calls, faxes, and emails on your behalf. Requests are fully credentialed, logged, and compliant. Employees receive real-time notifications and can approve or deny each request. You keep oversight without any HR burden.
• Employee-Permission Path: For your own hiring needs, you can direct background check providers to run verifications through MyEmployment first. Each check costs a flat $29, no-hit-no-fee, which is often half the price of legacy vendors. This reduces your background check bill dramatically while giving employees transparency and control.
With MyEmployment, one platform covers both sides of the process: incoming verification requests for your workforce and outgoing verifications for your new hires.

How can MyEmployment save us money on our own new-hire background checks?
You can significantly lower your costs by directing your background check provider to use MyEmployment. Every employment verification through our system is a flat $29, with a no-hit-no-fee policy. This model allows your background check company and/or HR team to save money on every new hire, while we handle all incoming verifications for your existing employees.
How do we get started with MyEmployment? Getting started is simple. You can begin saving money and time in two easy steps:
1. Contact us to receive the information needed to integrate with your existing payroll system.
2. Notify your current background check provider that you want them to use our dual-waterfall model to get better results and avoid paying higher fees with legacy systems.

How much do verifications cost and who pays for them?
Standard verifications are just $29, and the verifier always pays—never you or your current or former employees. Whether it’s a lender, a background check company, or a landlord, the requestor pays the flat fee. By directing your background check vendors and internal teams to use MyEmployment, you can substantially lower your own costs.
Are there any contracts or hidden fees for employers?
No. MyEmployment is completely free for employers. There are no contracts, hidden fees, IT charges, or subscription costs.
Technical & Integration Questions
Does MyEmployment require us to change our existing payroll or HR systems?
No. MyEmployment works with over 60 payroll and HRIS platforms, including ADP, Paychex, Gusto, Workday, and UKG. You simply route verifications to us, and we handle the rest, with no changes needed to your existing workflows.
See our payroll integration article here:
Which payroll and HR platforms do you integrate with?
We support integrations with all major providers, as well as custom and in-house systems. Our dedicated team manages onboarding and setup to ensure a smooth and secure connection. See our payroll integration article here:
How long does setup take and what kind of support is available?
Most employers are live in days, not weeks. Our dedicated U.S.-based team handles the integration, verifier onboarding, and credentialing for you, providing continuous support and guidance throughout the process.
Is there an API and how does it work?
Yes. Our API enables real-time data sync and verification delivery. We provide full documentation and support during onboarding for your IT or vendor teams.
See our API documentation article here:
Does MyEmployment replace our background check provider?
No. We only replace the employment and income verification step. We can integrate with your current background check provider, which will get them faster, more affordable results while also lowering your background check costs.
Data, Security & Compliance
How do you ensure verifiers are legitimate and compliant?
We meticulously credential every verifier, validate their permissible purpose, and enforce signed authorizations when required. Our system monitors and audits every request to ensure your data is only accessed by approved parties.
See our verifier compliance page here:
Is MyEmployment FCRA and other privacy law compliant?
Yes. We are fully compliant with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and all major state privacy regulations. We manage all compliance and auditing on your behalf so you can remain confident in your process.
How secure is employee data?
Employee data is encrypted at rest and in transit, monitored for threats, and protected under our SOC 2 certification. Authorized employers and employees can view real-time logs to see every request made to their data.
Do we have to give you all of our payroll data?
No. We only access the information needed to complete a verification, at the time of request. Unlike legacy providers, you don’t hand over bulk payroll files for employees who may never need a verification, so you retain full oversight. If you choose to give us all payroll data every pay cycle we will accommodate that.
Can we review or audit verification logs?
Yes. Authorized administrators can access both real-time and historical logs for reporting and audits.
Employee & Service Questions
What do employees see when a request is made for their data?
Employees receive instant alerts when their data is requested. They have access to a full history of requests and can approve, deny, or set global preferences, giving them full control and visibility.
Why would an employee deny a verification request?
An employee typically denies a verification request to protect their personal information and ensure it is only accessed for legitimate purposes they have approved. This level of control builds trust and protects your employees from potential misuse of their data.
The most common reasons for a denial include:
• Preventing Misuse of Personal Information: An employee may deny a request from a company they did not choose to work for or a landlord for an apartment they didn’t rent. This prevents their sensitive data from being collected and stored unnecessarily in multiple third-party databases.
• Unwarranted Access: This is a way to deny access to parties who may have a permissible purpose, such as a debt collector but the employee does not want to facilitate the access of their information without a court order or subpoena.
• Data Security: By receiving instant alerts and having control, employees can protect themselves from fraudulent requests, which is crucial in an age of heightened identity theft concerns.
By empowering employees to control their data, you are actively protecting them, building trust in your brand, and demonstrating a strong commitment to data privacy.
Can employees opt out, freeze their data, or get support?
Yes. Employees can restrict or freeze their data at any time. If they choose to do so, we require legally sufficient documentation before releasing any information. Our U.S.-based support team is available to answer any questions or disputes directly, so your HR team doesn’t have to.
Does this cover former employees?
Yes. We handle verifications for both current and former employees, as long as their records exist in your payroll or HRIS system.
Can MyEmployment handle different employee types, such as contractors or part-time staff?
Yes. Our platform is flexible and can process verifications for all employee types, including full-time, part-time, contractors, and contingent workers.
